Bolivia

Yungas

1,200–2,000 m

The Yungas valleys northeast of La Paz are Bolivia's primary coffee region, situated in a dramatic transition zone between the Andean highlands and Amazon lowlands. The word "yungas" refers to the warm valleys — a microclimate that allows coffee to grow at unusually high altitudes. Bolivia's coffee is one of the world's best-kept secrets: tiny production, minimal export infrastructure, but extraordinary cup quality when you find it.

What makes it special

Bolivian Yungas coffees are genuinely rare on the world market due to the country's difficult terrain and small-scale production. Their delicate, bergamot-like brightness is unlike almost any other origin — a truly special find.
